Why Dockmate Pricing Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All — And Why That’s a Good Thing

If you’ve looked into adding a Dockmate system to your boat, you may have noticed something: Dockmate doesn’t offer a flat, cookie-cutter price. And that’s by design.

Because Dockmate is custom-fit to your boat and your needs, the pricing structure is tailored — not standardized. Here’s why that’s important, and how it reflects the high level of integration, safety, and flexibility that Dockmate provides.

It Starts With Your Boat — and Ends With What You Want to Do

Every Dockmate system is built around the specific controls and equipment onboard. Whether your boat uses Volvo Penta EVC, Mercury DTS, Cummins with Aventics, or other OEM systems, we take pride in properly integrating with them — often using factory-approved interfaces that preserve your manufacturer warranty and ensure optimal performance.

Because these systems vary widely in their technology and communication protocols, so does the engineering required to connect Dockmate safely and reliably. That’s one of the main reasons pricing isn’t fixed — it depends on what’s onboard and how well-integrated we can make your wireless control experience.

Not Just On or Off — True Control at Your Fingertips

Beyond basic forward/reverse and thruster controls, Dockmate offers several premium features that further customize your system:

  • Anchor Control – Drop and retrieve your anchor directly from your Dockmate remote. No yelling across the boat. No need to run forward. It’s all in your hand.

  • Proportional Throttle – Standard on VECTOR models, or optionally activated  on the TWIST. This feature delivers variable engine power through precise ramp-up, giving you fine-tuned control — essential for soft docking or handling wind and current with finesse.

  • DPS (Dynamic Positioning System) – Our award-winning DPS uses your existing engines (and  proportional thrusters, if equipped) to hold your position and heading at the touch of a button. It’s like having a virtual anchor — perfect for solo captains or tight spots.

Each of these features adds convenience, control, and safety — and each one requires a different level of hardware, software, and integration support. That’s why they’re available as options, rather than baked into a one-size-fits-all price.

This Isn’t a Universal Remote — It’s an Extension of Your Helm

Some competitors offer systems at lower prices — but that often means limited integration, awkward workarounds, or generic "off-the-rack" solutions that lack the precision and reliability boaters expect. Dockmate is different.

We don’t believe in “good enough.” We believe in seamless operation, true integration, and interfaces that work like they were built by the boat’s original manufacturer .

What You’re Really Paying For: Confidence, Control, and Customization

When you invest in Dockmate, you’re investing in:

  • Safe, factory-level integration with your onboard systems

  • Options that fit the way you boat

  • Industry-leading standard features like SoftDocking, Throttle+, and Spread Spectrum two-way communication

  • A U.S.-based support and assembly team that tests every system before it ships
